How to implement EOS

EOS: Self-implementing vs using a Certified or Professional EOS Implementer

Many businesses around the globe have discovered the discipline, focus and accountability that the Entrepreneurial Operating System brings.

One of the key decisions for companies at the start of the process is how to implement EOS.

An effective implementation can mean the difference between the system working and helping a business to grow and scale, or it remaining unstructured, inefficient, disorganised – and stuck.

Method 1: Self Implementation

Businesses have the choice of implementing the EOS system themselves.

All the tools are open source, so they can be downloaded from the EOS website, with a whole range of support available, including the Traction Library, Youtube videos and the EOS app.

If this is the route chosen, the best course is to nominate an internal team member to learn the tools and the process, and manage the implementation.

They take responsibility for managing it and working with the leadership team to make sure the tools are introduced effectively throughout the business.

The benefit of this is that EOS is available to a whole range of businesses whatever their size and scale.

If a company is struggling with implementing the tools, the internal implementer can also join the online learning platform Basecamp, for a subscription of $495 per month, which provides the complete Toolbox, plus instructional videos, downloadable guides and additional tools.

However, although EOS is simple, that does not mean it is always easy. Sometimes businesses struggle to stay on track, hold each other accountable and embed the system into the business.

Many find that using an outside facilitator helps get better results.

Method 2: Using an EOS Implementer

Typically, it is very hard to change your organisation from the inside out. When you are on the inside, it can be hard to see what needs to be done.

Sometimes reading the book Traction and understanding the tools is not enough. They need to be implemented, understood and used consistently in the business.

It takes commitment, follow-through and time, and the pressures of daily work and all its interruptions can make it difficult to find the time to follow through.

There are also the additional complications of personalities, team dynamics and conflict which can make alignment difficult.

It is sometimes easier to have an external facilitator, who is professionally trained in using the tools and customising them to different organisations. Using a professional EOS Implementer can help you get the results you want.

No two businesses are alike and professional implementers have been qualified, gone through rigorous training and are committed to continual professional development to master the system. This means they have the skills and expertise to customise the tools for each business and help teams to roll them out to their entire organisation.

A Certified EOS Implementer like me, is able to offer an objective view, facilitate the process, hold people accountable and help implement the system purely to get the best results and transform the entire business.
